Port of Trieste and the Silk road, new interest venues for China

New interests for the Chinese market arise from the visit organized by the Port Authority and the main operators, in occasion of “Transport Logistic China” held in June in Shanghai. “Trieste is a harbour with many competitive advantages that we were not aware of.  Considering that it is located on the Silk road, the ‘One Belt One Road initiative’, recently promoted by the by Beijing’s government, can lead to a growing interest by the Chinese investors for the Port of Trieste.”

These important statement was made by Jin Yu-Lai, the representative of Kai-Rong Law Firm, the most important maritime law firm in Shanghai, who welcomed the guests to the event organized during the fair.  Fabrizio Zerbini, president of TMT, illustrated in details the characteristics of the container terminal with its 18 meters natural depth, able to serve the largest transoceanic vessels, the wide range of intermodal direct connections with Central and Eastern  Europe as well as the approved Port regulating plan which is able to grant further guaranties to the investors.
The strong interest demonstrated by Chinese operators for the advantages of  the port of Trieste, has induced the Commissioner of the Port Authority, Zeno D’Agostino, to plan additional initiatives, including other promotional trips in China, with the aim to further deepen the relations established.
 “The Chinese companies have actually shown a great interest to increase European traffic through Trieste. Especially the valorization of the Free Port is a new industrial-logistical key factor which has a potential that must be promoted.”
The initiative denominated “The Port of Trieste meets the Logistic Community of Shanghai”, has seen the participation of over 60 operators and 40 international and local companies in the shipping and logistic sector, including  MSC, CMA, Evergreen, COSCO, and Sinotrans.
The advantages and unique characteristics of the Free Port of Trieste have been kept in focus also during the speech held by Alberto Pasino, the representative of  Zunarelli & Asc Law Firm.
