New dedicated train from TMT to Hengersberg
TRIESTE - Trieste Marine Terminal has recently inaugurated a new train to Southern Germany with a weekly connection to Hengersberg, in South-eastern Bavaria.
The first train departed from TMT on 11th January to reach Sägewerk Schwaiger GmbH & Co. KG, a family owned sawmill with a history of over 100 years, whose 35% annual production of wood is destinated to the export markets around the world.
“This new dedicated train via Trieste grants us a reduction in terms of time and costs”, says Mr Holger Wittmer, Procurement manager of Sägewerk Schwaiger. “Our firm has begun a new logistic model with containerization directly at our premises, a process which is proving to be successful”.
“This new dedicated block train is a very important achievement allowing us to keep enlarging our rail network in South Germany” reported Milica Milosevic, responsible for sales in the German market at Trieste Marine Terminal. “We thank a lot Schwaiger for the trust, and we will work together to further increase the added value of this new logistics solution for their business”. Sawn timber from Schwaiger is now sailing to the Far East.
