Ministerial delegation from China visits the Port of Trieste

TRIESTE – In the past few days another Chinese delegation, this time the Minister of Transport, visited the container terminal of the Port of Trieste and other facilities in the seaport area. This meeting took place thanks to the 14th edition of the Implementation Meeting of EU-China Maritime Agreement;

the initiative was born in 2002 with the aim to improve the sea transport conditions of goods to and from China in the interest of the economic operators. The event  takes place alternately in China and in the EU every year and it represents the ideal occasion for exchanging information and opinion on the subject. The two delegations are formed by representatives of the Chinese Minister of Transport, of  the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport, of the European Commission, of Member States (among which there is Italy), of the Chinese Shipowners’ Association and of the European Community Shipowners' Association.
“We are honored to host such a strategic event. The port has a big potential which we can finally take advantage of and spread to foreign investors: excellent rail connections all over Europe which make Trieste the only seaport with an international vocation, natural 18 meters draft for big ocean vessels, a free area to be promoted, and important alliances like the one with the port of Duisburg with its strategic position in relation to the new Silk road” commented the president of the Port Authority Zeno D’Agostino.
