Port of Trieste, first upgraded crane back in berth

One of the three cranes, which are undergoing an upgrading phase, has returned to operations this morning at Trieste’s Molo VII dock.
After several improvements already completed in 2014, the upgrades are proceeding with an additional power enhancement and the modernisation of the structures of the container terminal managed by Trieste marine terminal. Trieste’s port authority confirms its constant engagement to develop new traffic routes principally directed toward Eastern and Central Europe. Once upgraded, the three cranes will be able to operate on ships up to 18000 teu (highest capacity in the Adriatic sea). As one of the main improvements to the cranes, the electronic system provided by “Siemens” has been revised and improved with the installation of the “smart landing” software resulting in better control of loading operations. During the next weeks the second crane will start undergoing the upgrading procedures forecasting to complete the third crane in the spring.
The upgrading operations are being conducted by Cimbali Technology with Port Cranes srl of Reggio Emilia.
