TMT volumes see +7% in first quarter of 2018. Rail increases by 58% in the same period

TRIESTE - Trieste Marine Terminal volumes moved in March 2018 overcome 58,500 teu, all time monthly recorded. The first quarter of the year closes with 138,000 teu, +7% compared to the same period of 2017.

For TMT, import volumes are the key factor to explain the growth, which is also mainly related to a very important development of the railway network. Rail volumes, in fact, increased by 58% compared to the same trimester of 2017 with important picks to be reported in particular for the traffic bound to Central and Eastern Europe. Hungarian traffic boomed with up to 14 trains per week, followed by Austria (+54% in the first quarter), Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany. During March, new connections have been established with Graz (by Cargo Center Graz and MSC) and Verona (by Hangartner and Alpe Adria), already reported in details on the specific news available on this website.
