TMT at Navigator conference for Port reform and new services via Trieste

TRIESTE – Italian port reform and latest development of the Trieste container terminal: these are the main topics of the presentation made by TMT during the  Navigator Haulage conference 2016 held recently in Budapest .

 

Public-Private partnership, infrastructure planning and improvement, digitalization of customs formalities and the port reform are just some of the steps taken by the Italian Government to make the Italian port and logistic system more competitive. Thanks to the reduction of the number of the Port Authorities and the streamlining of administrative procedures, Italy is sharpening up its image in the sector. These topics, together with the latest news about the Port of Trieste, and in particular those concerned to the Hungarian market, have been presented by TMT during the conference.

 

The Port of Trieste, and its container terminal in particular, are continuing to invest in the rail infrastructures . With an overall capacity of its railpark inside the terminal of  11,000 trains/year, TMT can offer to its customers a wide range of intermodal connections to Central/Eastern Europe. In particular the Budapest service, started in June 2015 with 2 trains and 4,000Teu moved (June-December) , today consists in 4 round trip block trains per week and approximately 20,000Teus moved in 2016.

 

A reliable terminal with no congestion or bottlenecks, the complete transport chain managed by the same company and the dedicated office in Budapest are some of the key elements contributing to the service development.
