Port of Trieste, new direct train connection to Slovakia

With effect from September 6th 2016 a new direct rail service will connect the Port of Trieste to the Slovakian Terminal of Dunajská Streda. This will be the first and unique connection between  the Italian Port and the Eastern Country.

The service has been conceived by MSC(Mediterranean shipping company) and developed with Metrans, the major rail operator in Eastern Europe. In less than 24 hours the train, which will run on a weekly basis, will reach the rail hub, located near Bratislava, where a wide range of connections to Czech Republic are already provided by Metrans.
The new rail link represents a further strengthening of the connections with Central Eastern Europe managed by TMT at Molo VII.  The project should be seen as part of the terminal strategy aiming to increase the frequency of rail services and constantly improve the opportunities for container cargo trades from/to the European key markets.
