Belt and Road: China focuses on Fvg and the Port of Trieste

TRIESTE - «We want to have a partnership with Friuli Venezia Giulia. The Port of Trieste in the South-South strategy is very, very important».
 
With these words Gong Weixi, Senior coordinator for the South-South and Triangular Industrial Cooperation - United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), summed up one of the most important aspects that emerged today in Trieste during the Belt and Road Forum. The event was organized by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region with the Council for the promotion of the international trade (Ccpit) and the China chamber of international commerce (Ccoic), the two Chinese government agencies for the promotion of trade and international exchanges, together with the Italy-China Foundation and the Chinese-Italian Chamber of Commerce, with the support of the Ince (Central European Initiative), the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea and Unido.
The importance that Beijing appoints to the "Belt and Road Forum" in Trieste was highlighted by Xu Xiaofeng, Envoy of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Italy. Xu outlined a scenario marked by China's desire to build, with the Silk Road, "a new field of global collaboration". A development of exchanges that, according to what emerged today in Trieste, can find a privileged line between the special Chinese economic zones and the Free Port of Trieste.
