TMT, slow growth and dropping volumes by train

TRIESTE - Trieste Marine Terminal basically confirms the traffic volumes of the first seven months of 2020 in comparison with the same period of 2019.

TMT handled 405,800 TEUs between January and July 2020: the number of TEUs (+0.99%) is almost unchanged compared to the same period of 2019. The traffic of TEUs moved by train drops by 14.6%, again compared to the first seven months of 2019. The cause of the current lack of growth, double-digit in previous years, is due to the strong economic and consumption recession suffered by the global economy, caused by the Covid 19 pandemic.
«We are resilient to the situation; we have implemented measures to contain the contraction of traffic, which is lower than in other ports. But this is not the time for enthusiasm: the future still holds a lot of uncertainty, and we are working cautiously in this perspective. Thanks to all the staff, direct and indirect, who, with the prevention and safety measures duly implemented by TMT and with their commitment and professionalism, have allowed the operational continuity of the Terminal "comments the President of TMT, Fabrizio Zerbini.
