Rail Connections

Important investments for Intermodal services are constantly carried out in order to optimize rail connections.

The new rail park inside the container terminal has just been completed. Today, 5 new rail tracks of 600 meters each, served with 3 rail mounted stacking cranes operate up to 5 trains at the same time, thus further improving the efficiency of terminal rail connections. With the new rail park, Trieste Marine Terminal will be in the position to internally operate over 11.500 trains per year, thus dramatically increasing the rail capacity and granting a further strong rail traffic volumes growth.

The wide range of locations served allow Shipping Lines, Freight Forwarder and operators to safely and quickly link Trieste with the heart of Europe also thanks to the several Trieste Marine Terminal and TODelta Group’s offices and collaborations established in Italy and Central/Eastern European Countries.

Simple and clear transit procedures allow the importers and exporters to receive or deliver the goods via Trieste in the quickest and most economical way also under the customs point of view.

FIRST CALL OF THE NEW UAM SERVICE AT TRIESTE

Ital Universo, berthed tonigh at Trieste, is the first vessel of the new UAM service to arrive at TMT. The 5.662 teu vessel is deployed on the new Evergreen Far East - Adriatic direct service together with other 13 vessels utilized on the Service (which call also the U.S. West Coast) .

Partner of the service are Evergreen (vessel operator) Hanjin, Yang Ming and, for Trieste, also MOL.

TMT closes the first four months 2012 at + 16,2 %

During the period 1/1/2012 - 30/4/2012 a total of 131.911 teu have been moved at Trieste Marine Terminal, recording a +16,2 %compared to the same period of 2011.

The same data in cntr shows a 17,5 % growth, at 85.360 cntrs.

NEW DIRECT RAIL SERVICE TO/FROM MILANO TO DEPART ON APRIL 10th

With effect from April 10th, the rail connetion Trieste - Milano and v.v. is resumed with 1-2 train departures per week.
The trains will be opearted by Alpe Adria with a weekly connection leaving Trieste every Tuesday at 20.00 and arriving at Milano Smistamento, for the termninal of Pioltello, at 08.30 on Wednesday. The train will then departs from Milano on Wednesday at 23.00 to arrive at Trieste on Thursday at 10.20.
